Campaign and Charges: “Shak for Sheriff” was the campaign banner created by political consultant David Brown [ 1 ] under which Commissioner Shahrukh Dhanji ran for the democratic nomination for Sheriff of Broward County, Florida. His campaign platforms were based on innovation, with strong emphasis of a community policing and anti-corruption. During this campaign he became a clear and imminent threat and so became targeted through a politically motivated investigation. The investigation was initiated through the South Florida (Broward office) of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement [2] – Special Agent James Futch volunteered base on a unanimous allegation to lead the investigation. Special Agent James Futch was a former partner and close friend of the candidate running against Commissioner Dhanji. [3] The Special Agent’s wife also worked for the candidate friend’s campaign. Both men had known each other from their time in the Hollywood Police department – historically the most corrupt police department in Florida history. The candidate in opposition to Commissioner Dhanji used the same political consultant as Michael Satz, the State Attorney [4] of the circuit. Charges from an investigation politically lead by Special Agent Futch were disclosed to have been politically motivated when Special Agent Futch wrote an e-mail that stated “…powerful political people would like to see this man [DHANJI] arrested …”
