Maryishimotomorris is Mary Ishimoto Morris, a former 27-year administrative employee of The Washington Post, and resident of Laurel, Maryland, who has been writing about electronic dance music since 2000. From 2000 to 2007 I wrote a monthly column for Baltimore, Maryland-based Music Monthly (until the publisher, Susie Mudd, became ill and suspended publication). From 2009 to 2012 I wrote a monthly column spotlighting Washington, DC DJs for On Tap Magazine based in Alexandria, Virginia (Jennifer Currie, publisher). I have also been published in The Washington Post, Big Shot Magazine, Knowledge Magazine, ATM Magazine, Mixer, Examiner.com. I have had letters to the editor published in the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and USA Today.

I began contributing to Wikipedia to update the page of a drum 'n' bass artist, but have since also contributed to pages of other electronic dance music artists, former Washington Post colleagues, and other pages. Created the National Ballet of Washington, DC page.

From contributing to Wikipedia, I became aware of the need for a place for people who have contributed to the edm scene who don't meet Wikpedia standards of notability to have their contributions documented and have hoped to create a Web site for that purpose.
