edit- Sven Co-op for Half-Life
Sven Co-op is a popular Half-Life modification that is based around cooperative play. Originally created to allow multiple players to experience the Half-Life single player game cooperatively, the SC community has since produced hundreds of custom maps. The current version 3.0 at one time allowed playing through most of the Half-Life single player (HLSP) maps. Many thanks to guardian for editing the single player maps. Recent Steam updates have affected the ability to do this. Some of the maps are buggy and others no longer automatically change to the next level. In September 2006, a 1Mb fix was released the SC3_HLSP_enabler. This fix allows a choice of easy or hard monsters, like the original svencoop30_hlsp_update (easy) and svencoop30full with HLSP support (hard). Although not an official fix. It is the best thing available today. With over 575 downloads in the first couple months. All those people cannot be completely wrong.

The single player maps are hot, people love the idea of replaying half-life with a friend.

The team behind Sven Co-op have added many new custom models, sounds, and features to the mod, such as the Uzi (which you can use akimbo), the Minigun, 'Monster Riding', and more. They have also added several monsters and some weapons that were found in the Opposing Force expansion, like the Black Ops Grunts, the Race X aliens, Otis, the Wrench, and the Sniper Rifle. They have also added some unfinished monsters from the Half-Life SDK (Software Developer's Kit), such as the Robot Grunt, and the Chumtoad.
The latest version of the modification, version 3.5 (yet to be released, was intended for release in December 2004) is expected to have a number of new features, including different game modes, player classes, more weapons and monsters, a built-in particle system, and more. Given the advanced age of the Half-Life engine, this version is likely to be the last major version, with only minor updates after that.
- Sven Co-op for Half-Life 2 (Unreleased)
The Sven Co-op team are currently working on a version of Sven Co-op for Half-Life 2, or Sven Co-op 2 as it is known. The primary goal is to get the Half-Life 2 single player campaign working fully, as well as providing a basic FGD to allow other users to begin working on maps.
After the initial release, the addition of all of the features from Sven Co-op is planned. Among other additions, these include a return of many (if not all) of the enemies from the original Half-Life, and support for multi-player vehicles. Plans also include adding new enemies, such as the Combine Super Soldier (based on an original sketch by Valve).
Sven Co-op for Half-Life 2 is being re-designed at the moment. However, the team is concentrating on finishing the Half-Life 1 version of Sven Co-op first.
