About

My name is Mariah Fairley and I am an English instructor at the American University in Cairo and also the Director of the Intensive English Program there. I am currently a summer PhD student of Composition and Applied Linguistics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. As a Bahá'í, I direct my efforts towards bringing diverse peoples together to discuss issues of import to our collective progress and social justice. My current academic interest revolves around understanding the classroom discussion space and thinking about how critical pedagogy and discussion pedagogy can help to make the classroom discussion more meaningful for and appreciative of all discussion members.
