Image tagging for Image:Waterboy-poster-0.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Waterboy-poster-0.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We requires this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

License tagging for Image:Sam Kinison.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Sam Kinison.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:13, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

John Stewart (film director) edit

Hallo, you are not available throug e-mail. On the page John Stewart I see you removed: John Stewart (director), film director and actor (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0829519/). I fail to understand your action, could you please enlighten me? Giga Wizard (talk) 05:34, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

"As you can see by the read color, John Stewart (director) is a dead link and therefore does not belong on a disambiguation page."

OK I understand that, so if I go back to my original, entry as it was first: '* John Stewart, film director & actor'. Then it is OK? I did not make the linking.Giga Wizard (talk) 14:55, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

moving wonder woman film page edit

please revert your move. A wonder Woman live action film has been on DC's back burner for years. Although the information is currently at the main character page, the constant potential for a live action was why the toon movie was put at such a specific page (animated film) right away, instead of at the 'film' page. The Gong Show edit

I did a slight tweak to your information about the latest version of The Gong Show. I moved your reference about the new show to the incarnation section and added a reference link to a report from someone who attended the tapings and who documeted his report with pictures. The new version is not a spin-off, but is in fact a re-release of the show with a new host, a modified stage, and a new set of judges. Best regards, Michael Q. Orphaned non-free media (Image:RasAlGhul.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:RasAlGhul.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 19:36, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Your moves edit

Hi, I noticed you're making a lot of Buffy related page moves but was consensus reached to make such changes? When making changes of such a grand magnitude, discussion is advised beforehand so disputes don't arise ——RyanLupin(talk) 00:23, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Uncontroversial moves become controversial when someone refutes. Since no discussion has taken place, you've given us no chance to voice our opinions. It might be different if you were only moving one or two articles but making almost 150 moves without a discussion is not very appropriate. ——RyanLupin(talk) 00:45, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Your moves, especially the episode pages, are unnecessary. The episodes were fine the way they were, and RyanLupin is right. Doing that many moves without discussing is VERY inappropriate. Each episode article title doesn't need to be followed with (Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode) because, while yes it is the complete title of the series, (Buffy episode) is sufficient enough. Kingdom2 (talk) 01:44, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
You can't really assert that your Buffy moves were uncontroversial, after I undid two earlier ones (of "Hush" and "Once More, with Feeling") that you performed last week. I didn't put a notice on your talk page then, because I figured that this was an isolated incident, and that you'd start a proper discussion on the relevant Talk page before doing any more. In any case, a coordinated series of moves, involving a large number of heavily cross-linked articles, is inherently disruptive, and should never be performed without discussion and consensus. Fair use rationale for Image:Zod.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Zod.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 21:48, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Chickenhawk edit

Why did you remove the hatnotes from Chickenhawk (bird) and Chickenhawk (politics)? I'd agree that most people who come to those pages will be following a specific link, so they won't need the hatnote to the dab page. Image copyright problem with Image:GuardiansoftheGalaxy.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:GuardiansoftheGalaxy.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Your name edit

I can't help but think you have an awesome wikipedia name. I have been reading the Shakespeare play Julius Caesar, and since I'm kind of fascinated with Marcus Brutus, I needed to tell you that. BTC 23:18, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Double redirects edit

When you move a page, as you did here, you first need to find out what links to that page and change all those links. Otherwise you potentially create a double redirect. That's what happened when you moved the page. The page Common (rapper) redirected to Common (artist). So if someone entered "Common (rapper)", he ends up on the redirect page that you created rather than "Common (entertainer)". (It doesn't do that now because I fixed it.) Remember, make things convenient for the reader. Avoid double redirects. Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 02:01, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

List of characters from The Wire edit

I notice you moved this today. Personally I think the titles are equivalent and see no need to change what exists. If the move is to go ahead I think the parties in favour should be responsible for updating all the links to the original article name to avoid double redirects.--Opark 77 (talk) 22:03, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm mainly referring to your unconstructive changes to Doctor Faustus (comics), Red Skull and the image you apparently uploaded for nothing [1]. If you're gonna be linking to the non-existent article "The Death of Captain America", create it first. BTW, your excessive bolding to Doctor Faustus ruined the lead sentence [2]. Please keep your test editing to Wikipedia:Sandbox and not to other Wikipedia pages. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 19:11, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
And another thing, edits like these are but a waste of time. The more formal a hatnote covers it, the better detail it is. For instance, see the ones at Penguin (comics), Flash (comics), Green Lantern, Cheetah (comics), Spirit (comics), The Shadow, Joker (comics), Batman, Tick (comics) and Superman. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 04:21, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Anarky edit

Greetings Marcus Brute. In response to your recent tagging of Anarky for cleanup and its length, I've created a space for discussion on the talk page on these points. Perhaps you can help decide what to do about the article. On an unrelated note, I've removed the "Batman" navigational template at the bottom of the page. I once added it myself, and was instructed that navigational boxes should only be used in articles which are included in the template itself. As Anarky is not yet on the Batman template, and wont' be for the foreseeable future, I've placed a note warning editors not to add it. I've now updated the note with a quote from WP:NAV on why the Batman template can't be included in the article. I hope you're satisfied with this explanation. --Cast (talk) 06:09, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Please avoid being careless when editing set indexes, as you were here. These are SIAs relating to comics and NOT dab pages, hence, do NOT treat them as such. Human brain edit

Hi -- I'm fine with most of the changes you've made, but I have returned the About info to the article -- the article as written makes assumption that readers have a basic familiarity with brain concepts, so I think a pointer to that fact is needed. Massive additions to Firefly articles edit

While I appreciate the thoroughness of the edits, i would hope you would stop adding in the Serenity (franchise) omnibus edits to the articles and templates until a consensus for these changes can be made at the WikiProject level. Additionally, consider that if the Serenity article is deleted or merged with another article, this creates a lot of repair work. Recent moves to Zelda characters articles edit

Is there a policy/guideline supporting this? I've always thought that articles such as these, which contain normal prose, like other articles, do not need the "List of" in the title. Haipa Doragon (talkcontributions) 12:16, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Firefly/Serenity citation edit

Marcus, Could you please cite at least one, preferably two sources, that back up your claim that the franchise is being marketed as and/or referred to as "Serenity" and not "Firefly." I would disagree with you out of gut feeling, but, hey, I know that I'm not a reliable source! :) That would go a long way to maintaining/creating support for your template name change and the new article under AFD. —Goodtimber (walk/talk) 05:51, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I saw you added {{Reqinfobox}} to articles. Please remember that this template should only go on discussion pages, not on the actual article. Genre changes edit

Recently you have been making changes that do not comply with policy. This edit isn't the way we do things, friend. 1) Genres are usually not proper-nouns so we don't capitalise first letter. And 2) By consensus, the umbrella term "Alternative rock" goes first. My second concern, in future, please could you perhaps use an edit summary and a reliable WP:SOURCE for these types of edits. As far as I can tell, that's a WP:POV genre change. On Wikipedia, we can't have everyone changing everything to what they think the genre is. It'd be hell, to put it bluntly. Reading your page, I see you are truly concerned about the quality of Wikipedia articles, and I appreciate your efforts to find reasonable alternatives. I thought your experience, concerns, opinions and ideas could add quite a lot to my project.

So, would it be possible for you to take some time off and give an online interview via E-mail

Hi, I'm told that the song on this disambiguation page may be notable, so there would be no reason to get rid of the disambiguation. If you know otherwise, please reply on my talk page. - Dank (push to talk) 16:44, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Character Assassination (comics) edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Character Assassination (comics), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Not notable enough for its own article

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free media (File:Gijoefilm.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Gijoefilm.jpg.

Updating image licensing after moves edit

Just a reminder that you should update the fair use image license when you move a page as it could easily get the image deleted because the fair use license is invalid. (Emperor (talk) 13:58, 23 June 2009 (UTC))

Redirecting issue: Sleaze rock edit

Hi Marcus. Where I live (Netherlands), we know Sleaze rock as a kind of 1990-ies Garage rock, related to Punk as well as to Rock 'n' roll. Definitley not as something close to Glam metal, or Hair bands like Twisted Sister, or the Tinseltown rebellion bands refered to by Frank Zappa. This results in people refering on wiki-pages to Sleaze rock, meaning the genre of music played by Andre Williams after 1998, and Green Hornet (band), but get redirected to Glam Metal, which is glamour hard-rock. So I'm gonna create a disambiguation page:
Sleaze rock can refer to
1] glam metal: a sub-genre in hard-rock music involving glamorous outfits, tight pants and transvestite hairdo's
2] a kind of garage rock which is something in between rock 'n' roll and punk-rock, with emphesis on sex, booz and R&R

Fair use rationale for File:All You Need Is Cash.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:All You Need Is Cash.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 18:42, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Split Infinitive edit

Hi, you added a "weasel" tag to Split infinitive. I thought this article was pretty precise, and it is certainly very thoroughly referenced. Could you please explain on the talk page of that article which phrases you find weasly? Thanks. --Doric Loon (talk) 10:38, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Psycroptic.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Psycroptic.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 02:02, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Phenomenology edit

Hi,

If I am correct, you added a rewrite introduction tag to Phenomenology (philosophy), but I don't see any comments from you on the talk page. Are you in a position to be specific about what the introduction lacks, or what the problems are? Thanks.KD Tries Again (talk) 03:10, 23 August 2009 (UTC)KD Tries Again

Characters created by... edit

I see you have started a few of these categories but none of them have categories which is a bad idea. At the very least they should be under Category:Fictional characters by author, although as there are quite a few of these (given the nature of comics) we might eventually added a "Comics characters by author" but we can deal with that later on. (Emperor (talk) 22:06, 18 September 2009 (UTC))

Thanks for that.
I do want to flag up the red links to cats you've created as we usually want to avoid that unless they are going to be created immediately:
Also while characters created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby seem like a worthwhile category ones like Category:Characters created by Jerry Robinson seem a little underpopulated and might need some work or they'd be leaving themselves open to deletion.
On that subject the link to the previous discssion here suggest that there is a consensus against these types of being created, and recreating the Grant Morrison one would get it quickly deleted. So it might be an idea to get a consensus for these or there is the possibility that all your hard work will be undone. (Emperor (talk) 19:25, 30 September 2009 (UTC))
