World Citizen Artists (WCA) is a global movement promoting humanitarian issues through arts, music and creative projects.

World Citizen Artists was founded by Valerie Won Lee, artist traveller and former volunteer at Safe Passage.

History

World Citizen Artists was officially established on 20th June 2014 (World Refugee Day). Artists from across a variety of styles, beliefs, and backgrounds began connecting via the organization's website and social media channels.

Within the first three months, World Citizen Artists' social media reached over 10,000 fans.

On 21st September 2014 (International Day of Peace), World Citizen Artists launched its first global competition. Under the theme, "Compete for Peace – Not War,” in partnership with Playing for Change, Issuu, Belgravia Gallery, Nomfusi and Yosvany Terry.

On 21st June 2015 (World Music Day), World Citizen Artists celebrated its first anniversary. The event was in partnership with the International Day of Peace, the Bataclan. The event was also supported by Radio France International.[1]

On 1st October 2015, the founder of the movement launched a new awards channel that features creative projects and celebrities who are taking concrete actions to change the World.
