Trapsquad Westside is a rap collective from Fort Portal, Uganda. It comprises of rappers, dancers, DJs, producers and video directors. It is home to rappers like MasuRubu, StarFace, Snup Drug, Kamavinga and Gang MAFIOSO. Producers like T-loop, PLAYBOY Pro are behind the tracks by Trapsquad Westside. DNOCK dj is the official DJ for Trapsquad Westside.
Trapsquad Westside started as a gang of young boys with a common love for art in the 2000's by StarFace's Uncle. The boys would turn up everyday and StarFace real name RICHARD TUMUSIIME was also growing up and by 2016 he was getting done with high school and had been through two dance crews by then. After high school he struggles his way through the streets with the boys going by the moniker ' Trap gang 'for a couple of years and earns himself fame from uptown to downtown.
Trapsquad Westside is birthed in February, 2020 with the gang starting out shooting dance videos and posting them onto there YouTube's exposing their dancing and filmmaking skills. The boys went ahead to release a couple of mixes onto the internet that didn't get noticed but the boys didn't give up for they knew what they wanted.
The boys put resources together around September 2022 and released a mix titled "Orutaro Rwa Rap" and it featured two songs 'ORR' and 'Mbagambire' two drill tracks that have driven the streets by storm. They have people wondering about their capabilities to deliver hard bars in their native "Rutooro" something unusual on the Ugandan Scene So far.
They went ahead to release an amapiano vibe titled 'EMPAAKO' . This song is reflects the cultural background of the 'Batooro' people. They are given a first name called a pet-name at birth. One funny fact about the "empaako's" is that the king 'omukaama';shares his pet-name alone "Ocaali". It is a HIT in bars and clubs in Fortportal.
The crowds are yet to understand there style since Hip-hop roots are not deep rooted in Fortportal. Therefore the boys this year are starting a campaign to sensitize the society about Hip-hop, the benefits, beauty , style and swag of Hip-hop through door to door question and answers segments mostly especially downtown, Fortportal and the activities will be covered and uploaded on their YouTube Channels.
MasuRubu on 28-12-2022 released the first single off his forthcoming debut album "NDAKINGURA BOX". The song is titled 'Ndakingura Box', mixed and mastered by T-loop but is still processing the copyright rights of the beat. The song is Afro-American trap an unusual trend in Uganda mostly due to the fact that the boy utilizes simple words from his native 'Rutooro'.
