Georgios Marinakis Georgios Marinakis was born in Kalamata, Greece in 1981. He completed his Middle and High school education, in the Maria Callas Music School.

From an early age he studied the Greek Lute (Laouto) and Greek traditional music. He has competed and received prizes from various national and international competitions and festivals, including first prize at Panhellenic Music Competition run by Ministry of Education in Athens as well as coming in the top 3 for three successive years.

He completed his studies at Istanbul Yildiz Technical University's Artistic Creation department in 2005.

Georgios Marinakis has collaborated with master musicians of Turkish Classical Music and the Oud in various CDs and concerts, including Prof. Ruhi Ayangil, Göksel Baktagır and Yurdal Tokcan. On several occasions he has performed on the Greek and Turkish national television (TRT) and radio as well as the BBC.

He is currently working on an Oud recital project on pieces by Necdet Yaşar and Serif Muhiddin Targan.
