Maia KoZ is founder and editor of "ScaryGoodFlix.net," an online horror fanzine highlighting the best and worst of films and literature within the horror genre, from a distinctly female point of view. Her position that horror is the true "sub-genre generator," is supported by the belief that fear of the unknown is the foundation upon which creation of worlds are established within every other genre. Her essays and articles explore the role gender plays in the making of what she refers to as the "Horri-effective," the creation and recreation of story, built upon the initial response to that which resists revelation through the act of revealing its mystery. A script editor/screenwriter, Maia KoZ works with new and seasoned indie writers and directors, and is a featured panelist at film festivals in the United States and Europe, including the ECU Independent Film Festival in Paris, France.

In 2017, ScaryGoodFlix, in response to a critic's negative review of a horror film, started writing “R3 Critiques: Reviewing the Reviews of Reviewers,” highlighting the flaws within their assessments and modifying their reviews according to the actual intent of the film.
