Most deletion discussions center around a lack of citations to reliable sources. Some editors, in a fervent rush to save an article they feel strongly about, will add questionable references to the article or the deletion discussion in an attempt to demonstrate the notability of the article. The same rules apply during this phase in an article's life. The admin reviewing the deletion discussion will take into account not only the number of references (more isn't necessary better) and the reliability of those sources, but also how those sources support the article itself.
The primary purpose of citations is to identify what the content of the article was based on. Demonstrating notability is secondary.
Tips edit
- At the bare minimum, the source should include the title of the article somewhere in the source.
- If you didn't use it to create the content, don't cite it.
