My real name is Kwek Mei Jiun (郭美君）. I'm a Malaysian Chinese. I've been trained in Botany in the university and graduate school. I'm currently working as a scientific assistant in an international partnership organisation, working to promote the usage of and information dissemination of neglected and underutilised crop species(NUS).
I have been taking part in editing Wikipedia since 2011. My interest is growing day by day! I wish to make use of Wikipedia as a platform to improve my knowledge in NUS or agriculture, by learning to improve content with valid references, improve citation and external link, and certainly to practise my editing and writing skill.

Instrumental in this awareness raising process have been the 1992 Convention on Biological Diversity and the FAO (First occurrence, expand) IV International Technical Conference on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture held in Germany in 1996 (cfr. Activity 12: “Promoting development and commercialization of underutilized crops and species") (UNEP 1992, FAO 1996a). The Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR) in 1999 also emphasized the role of underutilized species in raising income of the rural poor (Frison et al., 2000).
