"A keen yachtsman with eventually extensive experience in racing and cruising in English and North American waters, and a representative of the USA in world and international dinghy racing, Wells inevitably became interested in painting his sport in all its variety." [2] Tim Wells developed a particular love for the pilot cutter Jolie Brise whom he painted and sailed on many times.
