  • Aerial photography (big opportunity if you have a good drone) and satellite imagery
  • Anything outside USA and western Europe, developing countries and Global South even more so
  • "Behind the scenes" type pictures
  • Data visualisations
  • Explanatory diagrams
  • Microscopy, non-optical wavelengths and non-light imaging
  • Remote regions
  • Time series, including videos and animations

FP categories that are missing entirely edit

  • Business, economics and finance
  • Crime and law
  • Government, politics (excluding politicians), public services

Subsets of existing FP categories edit

Art edit

  • Calligraphy
  • Jewelry
  • Sculpture
  • Still life

Culture, entertainment and lifestyle edit

  • Anime, manga and visual novels
  • Clothing and fashion
  • Film
  • Hobbies
  • Non-Christian religions
  • Television
  • Video games (not consoles)

Engineering and technology edit

This subject area is underrepresented in general, but the following are especially so.

  • Construction
  • Consumer goods, tools and utility objects
  • Industrial equipment
  • Manufacturing
  • Public infrastructure (excluding bridges)

History edit

  • Any war outside WWI and WWII
  • Any non-war, non-USA related topic
  • Historical artifacts

Lifeforms (includes animals and plants) edit

  • Any animal that isn't an amphibian, bird, fish, insect, mammal or reptile
  • Any aspect of a plant that is not a fruit or flower
  • Bacteria
  • Endangered and extinct species
  • Fossils and skeletons
  • Protista

Portraits edit

  • Females
  • Occupations and professionals

Sciences edit

This subject area is underrepresented in general, but the following are conspicuously absent even by that standard.

  • Computer science
  • Medicine, dentistry and surgery
  • Physics
  • Psychology

Space edit

  • Radio astronomy

Other edit

  • Viruses
