"Luckygambi/One Love"
Song

"One Love" Is a song by American Recording Artist Jennifer Lopez; from her seventh Studio album, Love?. It was written by Lopez, Anesha Birchett, Antea Shelton & Emile Dernst II. The song is one of the more personal songs on Love?, detailing Lopez's Love life and inability to have her One Love. It serves as Love?s eight track.

The song was leaked online as early as May 2009[1].

Background and composition edit

The song was recorded In Early 2009. Lopez, who contributed to the Lyrics (One of Two songs she actually did) makes references to her previous relationships with various men.

Lopez described the song as "One Love, meanwhile, is about if we can ever have one true soul mate"[2]. Lopez initially hadn't contributed to the Lyrics of the song, however she stated in an interview with Rolling Stone "It [One Love] goes through the major relationships in my life. I’ll be honest: when they first wrote the song for me, it was very generic. I loved the idea, though, so I said, "Why don’t we make it more 'me’?" I sat there and wrote the verses with them, and we went through every major relationship I’ve ever had, asking the question, (Is there one love?)"[3].

"Took a Shot, with the Bad Boy From the Block" makes reference to Lopez's Two-Year-Romance with American Rapper P Diddy. "Try my luck with something new we danced until we said "I do" my luck is bad, no more us, too no me and you" makes reference to Lopez's second husband Cris Judd, her previous backup dancer.

"It's take three, could there be a part for me? came and swept me off my feet went nowhere but kept the ring once again i'm lonely" Makes reference to Lopez's high profile relationship with Ben Affleck - The Supercouple known as Bennifer. Lopez sings about how the engagement never turned into a marriage. "Number four, he sang to me but i'm not sure so worn out, but love just saw made me wanna try once more and i couldn't say no" makes reference to Lopez's Husband of Seven Years, singer Marc Anthony (whom she filed divorce from In July 2011).

After the release of Love?, there was speculation that Lopez's former husband Ojani Noa had filed a lawsuit over the song claiming that it contained lyrics about him without his own Knowledge. He apparently claimed that "was written about about him and violates an agreement prohibiting his ex from portraying him in a negative light[4].Despite this a lawsuit never took place. The lyrics which Noa intended to sue Lopez over were actually a reference to her higher profile relationship, being P Diddy.

Reception edit

Sal Cinquemani from Slant Magazine said that "beyond that (One Love), Love? doesn't dig very deep into its titular query"[5]. Another review stated "Lopez seems totally removed from the entire album except on “One Love,” which marks the only byline for the singer"[6].

Aside from Slightly positive Reception, others have been mixed, stating that that the 2009 leaked song is extremely outdated and shouldn't have made the finale cut for the Love? playlist.[7]

Live Performances edit

Lopez debuted the song at the 15th Anniversary for Mohegan Sun during a concert. Pictures of her past loves (Combs, Affleck, Judd and Anthony) flashed in the background while Lopez performed. Following the performance, she broke down infront of the audience; with the Lyrics being very emotional to her. [8][9][10] The choreographed number accompanying the track included lookalikes of exes such as Diddy, Ben Affleck and Marc Anthony.
