User:Lordemp/nikon 55mm f/3.5 micro

Nikon nikkor 55mm f/3.5 micro (1961-1979) is arguably the sharpest macro lens Nikon has produced. Excellent optics, good for FX as well as DX cameras. Although replaced with a newer 55mm f/2.8 micro, some people still consider the f/3.5 micro a sharper lens. The lens is 5 elements in 4 groups, no floating elements, and conventional spherical design. The newer models have multicoating. The closest distance to focus is about 24cm, but it can be closer with an extension tube. The reproduction ratio on film is 1:2, but with an extension tube a 1:1 ratio is possible. The lens has a focus scale and a depth of field scale. The diaphragm is made up of 6 blades and it stops down to f/32. The filter thread is 52mm. It also has an aperture ring. Nikon specifies the weight as 245g. There is no need for a hood for this lens since the front element is already deeply recessed. It performs best and sharpest at f/5.6.
