Watat Automation is a concept that was invented by Innocent LeGrand Watat, a Canadian engineer, consultant, community leader, entrepreneur, and inventor. The concept is based on the idea of an Information Technology Engineering Process Automation Framework (ITEPAF) that can be used for the "Automation of Teaching and Learning" which he named "watatomation". This concept offers the possibilities of "watatisation" of diverse domains, including education.[1]

The ITEPAF is a concept that aims to automate the teaching and learning process using a set of defined methodologies and techniques. The system facilitates the learning mechanism as well as the teaching mechanism through automation, making it adaptable to various settings such as classrooms, online sessions, and synchronous or asynchronous manners.[2]

Innocent LeGrand Watat is the founder and Managing Director General of TRESORPORATION LTD.[1], a company that specializes in engineering and automation processes. He began his career as a telecommunications engineer in Cameroon, where he worked for several years before moving to Canada to pursue his future.[3]

In 2017, Watat invented the concept of "watatomation" as a way to automate the teaching and learning process. He developed an automated framework (ITEPAF) that can be used to deliver educational content to students in a personalized way. The framework was based on advanced machine learning algorithms that could adapt to the learning styles and abilities of individual students.

The concept of "watatisation" of education is based on the idea of streamlining the delivery of educational content to students and ensuring that every single piece of cognitive information is effectively delivered and well mastered. The concept is designed to change the way classrooms, schools, and universities are organized and turn teaching and learning into a simple structure of knowledge gathering.

The delivering system of knowledge is going to be streamlined, the acquisition of knowledge by students is going to be ensured, and the lack of acquisition detected soon enough to bring the required assistance when needed. It will be possible to personalize the learning structure and experience of each learner and allow their evolution according to their cognitive abilities.[4]

The system breaks down each subject into granular components and develops applications accordingly. The learner can use the application to learn the subject on their own, while the system collects data on their cognitive abilities. The data collected by the system is useful in determining the depth of the learner's abilities, which can be used to customize the learning experience to suit their individual needs.

The system utilizes a well-known engineering concept called the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to divide components into manageable elements and facilitate better control and management. The WBS concept is a project management tool that helps in dividing a project into smaller, more manageable parts. This approach is particularly useful in the context of teaching and learning, where the complexity of a subject can be overwhelming.[2]

Other factors taken into account by the system include the definition of components, the definition of reusable components’ tasks, the orchestration of tasks, disaster prevention, and execution integrity. In addition, the system generates code for repetitive actions and produces historical data for data mining purposes. This data can be analyzed to determine the depth and specificities of the action, the component, the task, or a set of tasks.

The concept allows for the personalization of the learning experience for each student, which means that students can learn at their own pace and in their own style. The concept also allows for the detection of cognitive shortcomings in students, which can be addressed with the required assistance when needed.

The follow-up of the teaching of each learner will be done in a personalized way with a unique learning path. Thus very advanced learners will be able to go as fast as they can without being slowed down by the slower others; similarly, less advanced learners will receive adequate help to enable them to evolve according to their additional needs and without any frustration.

The ITEPAF has numerous benefits for educators and learners alike. The system adapts to different settings and can customize the learning experience to suit individual needs. This means that learners can learn at their own pace and receive a tailored education that meets their unique requirements. Educators can also benefit from the system by automating the teaching process, allowing them to focus on providing personalized support to learners.

The system's ability to collect data on the cognitive abilities of learners is particularly useful in identifying areas where learners may be struggling. By identifying these areas, educators can provide additional support and resources to help learners overcome these challenges and progress through the subject matter.
