Biography

Adam Serwer is biracial. His mother is Jacquelyn Days Serwer, PhD, an African-American art historian and Chief Curator of the National Museum of African-American History and Culture at the Smithsonian Institution. His father is Daniel Serwer, PhD, a Jewish scientist and historian who served as Vice President of the United States Institute of Peace. [1]

Adam Serwer has reported for several publications including MSNBC, Buzzfeed, and Mother Jones.[1] In 2012, he was named The Root 100 honoree.[2][3] In 2014, Buzzfeed hired Serwer as its national editor and he moved to work at their headquarters in New York.[4][5][6] In August 2016, he began working for The Atlantic and is currently a senior editor covering politics.[7][8] He is a regular critic of the Republican Party under President Donald Trump, and has stated Trump's election and presidency are due in part to widespread racism and white nationalism.[9][10][11][12] Several of his articles have been widely discussed, including "The Cruelty is the Point" which argues that cruelty by the Trump Administration is a tool being used on purpose,[13][14][15] and "The Nationalist's Delusion" which is about Trumpism and its related to racism.[16][17]
