John R. Livingston (1755-1851), photographed in 1844

John Robert Livingston (February 13, 1755 – 1851) was an American merchant and military officer, and a member of the prominent Livingston family of the state of New York. He was the third son of Judge Robert Livingston, a younger brother of Robert R. Livingston, who helped draft the Declaration of Independence, and an older brother of Secretary of State Edward Livingston.

The last surviving member of his generation of the Livingston family, John R. Livingston was photographed by Mathew Brady in 1844.[1]

Livingston died at his home in Red Hook, New York in 1851.
