TroubleSpots is a mobile phone coverage application that was developed and is operated by Global Wireless Solutions, Inc., a telecommunications company based out of Dulles, VA. TroubleSpots uses GPS technology to identify a user's current location. Individuals can then use TroubleSpots to report, in real time, when they experience areas of no wireless network coverage, dropped calls, failed call attempts, or failed data service. The information collected can be passed on to mobile operators, who use this data to optimize performance of their voice and data networks.[1]

History

edit

TroubleSpots was launched for the iPhone and other Apple devices in April of 2009. [2][3]

On March 22, 2010, TroubleSpots became available for BlackBerry devices.[4]

Recognition

edit

In 2009, FierceWireless named Global Wireless Solutions, Inc. one of its "Fierce 15," a list comprising 15 of the top wireless companies of the year. This recognition was due in large part to the creation of TroubleSpots.[5]
