Lionel Rolfe has been a working journalist since he was 19 and went to work on the Pismo Beach Times in the early '60s. He later worked for the San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Free Press, Psychology Today and several other mostly California publications over the years. He also was editor of the B'nai Brith Messenger for 10 years and has written seven books, including Literary L.A., The Menuhins: A Family Odyssey, Fat Man on the Left, The Uncommon Relationship of Yaltah Menuhin and Willa Cather, The Misadventures Of Ari Mendelsohn: A Mostly True Memoir Of California Journalism, and others. His mother was the prodigy pianist Yaltah Menuhin and his uncle was Lord Yehudi Menuhin, the violinist regarded as the greatest musical prodigy since Mozart. He has written extensively about his family. He has been anthologized in two major collections and his work is collected at USC's Doheny Library special collections. Most recently he has been a contributor to the Huffington Post and for the last 15 years he has been a reporter and editor at City News Service in Los Angeles. He has been married three times--to Dianna Preston, Nigey Lennon and Boryana Rolfe--and has two children, Heather Pearce and Hyla Douglas. His articles have been cited in numerous Wikipedia articles.
