About WikiVandalism
editWikiVandalism is the Wikipedia equivalent of vandalism.
Types of WikiVandalism
editDoodling
editWhen a user types nonsensical,non-related text into an article, it is called doodling. A common example of doodling is "So-So wuz heer". Doodlers generally have no malicious intent, but usually doodle out of curiosity or boredom.
Trolling
editNot all doodles are nonsensical. Some deliberately type misleading, or grossly incorrect information.
Blanking
editWhen a user blanks an article or talk page, the action is called blanking.
Attack Edits
editAttack editing is when an editor makes an edit to a page that attacks a target in some way.
Link Vandalism
editLink vandalism is when a user modifies a link to make it appear to lead to one source and it leads to a different source. An example is making a link say http://www.cbc.ca when it actually leads to a different website.
Vandalism should be reverted and perhaps reported. You will learn about reverting in the next tutorial.
