Chipophone The Chipophone is a 1980's keyboard created by Linus Åkesson. It is a homemade 8-bit synthesizer built using a stripped down organ. <http://www.linusakesson.net/chipophone/index.php>

It's invention paved the way for Casio to bring the technology to the mainstream market with it's "Casio Keyboard Range" which has many pre programmed tunes ready to play.

During 2011 the Chipophone achieved cult status in Clacton-on-Sea (Essex, UK) largely due to a piece named International Karate <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpa7AQsx7Xw&feature=player_embedded>. Despite this localised success the general public consensus is still that the Chipophone is inferior to the Casio range.

It is rumoured (although not confirmed) that the Chipophone was used by US special forces in capturing Osama Bin Laden in April 2011. <Sun Newspaper>
