The municipal unit of Roshnik, located in the county of Berat, Albania, has a rich and varied history dating back to ancient times. The region has been inhabited for thousands of years and has been influenced by a number of different cultures and civilizations.

One of the earliest known settlements in the area was the ancient Illyrian city of Antipatrea, which was located near present-day Roshnik. Antipatrea was founded in the 4th century BC and served as an important center of trade and commerce. The city was later conquered by the Romans in the 2nd century BC and became an important part of the Roman Empire.

During the Middle Ages, the region was ruled by a number of different powers, including the Byzantines, the Bulgarians, and the Ottomans. The town of Roshnik was founded in the 15th century and quickly became an important defensive fortification against Ottoman attacks. The Roshnik Castle, which was built during this time, served as a key defensive structure and helped to protect the town from invaders.

In the 19th century, the region came under the control of the Ottoman Empire once again. During this time, the municipality of Roshnik experienced significant economic and cultural growth, as it became an important center of agriculture and trade.

After the establishment of the Republic of Albania in 1912, the region became an important part of the new nation. In the years that followed, Roshnik continued to grow and prosper, and today it is known for its rich history, cultural traditions, and natural beauty. Despite the challenges it has faced over the years, the municipality of Roshnik has remained a vibrant and thriving community that is proud of its past and looking forward to a bright future.
