Suggestions for Improvement

edit

One thing that stood out to me was organization. Reading through Eliza Haywood's page, I noticed that biographical information is sprinkled throughout. The actual "Biography" section claims that little is known about her life but other sections go into more detail about her experiences and life events. Perhaps try to expand the biography section to tell a more complete narrative (as complete as possible, anyway). Another more minor organization issue is the confusing lists of Haywood's works. A comprehensive list of works in one section would be helpful. Senicely (talk) 19:09, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Leslie! For starters, I have both envy and pity for you, but at least you know there is information to be had! I think my main issue, especially from an OCD standpoint is that her list of works is out of chronological order. While it may not be paramount, seeing how many of her works were published in '24 alone would speak to her prolific career! Also, I love the idea of separating them by type though, as you have as 4., because the list is overwhelming in its current form. Good luck! What an awesome author! 18:45, 22 September 2015 (UTC)willfm willfm (talk)

Hi Leslie,

This is a daunting task! Some suggestions: Why not call the "Works by Haywood" "Bibliography"? I suppose it doesn't matter though. I think it's a good idea to consolidate the smaller lists into one list, however, I am not sure why you have two long lists, one is "published before 1850" and the other is "major works." That seems a little confusing. Why not just have one comprehensive list? I am sure you have your reasons though. :) I do think dates next to the works is helpful, but only one list has dates. I think more photos as you have indicated will be welcome additions. This one seems mostly like a matter of keeping up with Haywood's prolific publishing history. Good luck! • Hi Dana, Thanks for your review of my work thus far. The first list is where I am still splitting them up by type while the longer list is the entire list of her published works. Best, Lesley LesBrooks (talk) 20:47, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Leslie, This looks awesome thus far! I think it may be helpful to include more wikipedia links to places (possibly) in the biography section. I also felt like the confusion about her biography had me slightly confused as well. Discussing her (non)marriage to Rev. Valentine Haywood felt like it derailed her bio slightly, but it is an interesting fact. I wonder if there is another place it fits better. Info about the Licensing act of 1737 seems slightly out of place. Everything else within that section appears in chronological order. If your adjustments to the article were placed at the end, then I apologize for misunderstanding. This has a lot of good info! Kgocinsk (talk) 02:42, 5 November 2015 (UTC)kgocinsk ~~~~
