Legit Status is the official representative of the Philippines to the prestigious World Hip Hop Dance Championships held annually in Las Vegas, created and operated by the world’s foremost authority on street dance, Hip Hop International. The team was formed in 2009 by Coach Vimi Rivera as an entrant to the Varsity Division of the World Hip Hop Dance Championships in 2009. Today, Legit Status and its alumni are composed of a mix of students from various prominent schools in Metro Manila such as De La Salle University, University of the Philippines, De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas, Xavier School, Assumption San Lorenzo, Immaculate Conception Academy, Colegio de San Agustin, Claret School of Quezon City, and La Salle Green Hills.

During the 2009 World Hip Hop Dance Championships (Varsity Division), Legit Status placed 7th out of 41 countries during preliminaries, being chosen as one of the top ten to advance to finals. Last year, at the 2010 World Hip Hop Dance Championships, Legit Status placed 6th out of 42. Moreover, this is also the same competition in which our very own Philippine All-Stars, the most renowned hip-hop dance group in the country today, bagged the world title in 2006 and in 2008. This year, Legit Status was invited to compete in the Varsity Division to be an official representative of the Philippines to the competition for the third year in a row.

This coming July 26-31, 2011, Legit Status will be representing the Philippines in the Varsity Division of the 2011 World Hip Hop Dance Championships, one of the most prestigious international dance competitions around the world, which will be held at the Red Rock Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada, in the US. The top dance crews from all over the world will be performing their two-minute routines, determined to earn the championship title, international bragging rights, cash and prizes. More than thirty nations will be participating in this esteemed competition, such as the USA, Canada, France, Poland, Brazil, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, Australia, Denmark, China, Japan, and the Philippines, among many others.
