    A smart phone is a mobile phone that has more features than a normal mobile phone which uses more advanced computing systems.
Smartphone and feature phones may be thought of as handheld computers integrated with a mobile telephone, but while most feature
phones are able to run applications based on platforms. Smart phone run complete operating system software providing a platform 

for application developers. Thus, they combine the functions of a camera phone and a personal digital assistant. Growth in demand for advanced mobile devices boasting powerful processors, abundant memory, larger screens, and open operating systems has outpaced

the rest of the mobile phone market for several years. These Smart phones cause effects in our daily life through new media.

Smart Phone in New Media

   We  live in a society where smartphone are taking a big part in new media. New media is Media studies that emerged in the later
part of the 20th century. New media holds possibility of an on-demand access to content anytime, anywhere on any digital device as
well as interactive user feedback, creative participation and community formation around the media content. We can browse the
internet, update our social-network status, upload photo's and share to the whole world that we have arrived at our destination
like Flinders St, Melbourne or at a friend's house.

Effects in our daily life

   Smart phone owners are connected to the latest news most everywhere they may find themselves. A chime may alert the phone user
to any important information, text messages, breaking news and calls. Consumers of news on smart phones have many options while
nearly all mobile-phone users have the capability to receive and view instant news in text form, the newest and next generations
of smart phones take mobile news even further. Larger screens, Camera and video camera, finger-touch interface, geo-location and
other additional features which go beyond what a laptop computer can manage, which makes the smartphone a great approach for news.
The small size of the smartphone screen is not entirely a news-presentation impediment, but it is a design challenge. Even in-

depth, enterprise, and investigative reporting packages have a place on the smartphone. News designers can take advantage of smart

phones special capabilities, such as identifying the current physical location of a user. Mobile news can be better in some ways
than news as viewed on the larger screen of a PC or laptop computer.

Smart Phone in our Sleep

   We are becoming addicted to these smart phones. A survey found that smart phones are interfering with our abilities to sleep.
One in three smart phone owners admit that they have waken up during the night to check their smart phone devices for new emails
or text messages. Nearly 50% of those surveyed said they wouldn't even think about going to sleep without their smart phones next
to them.

   Surveys find that:

• 43% of mobile workers keep their smart phones within arms reach when they are sleeping at night. In the 43% there is an average of 60% who will most likely wake up during the middle of the night to check their smart phone.
• 55% of those living in Asia Pacific wake up occasionally to check their smart phone or tablet and 19% wake up every night. Europeans are most rested with only 27% waking at least occasionally and only 4% waking up everynight.
• When mobile workers wake up in the morning, 35% check their mail/email on their smart phone before anything else including eating breakfast or getting dressed up.
