First generation tags were constructed of paper and used loops of string to affix to patients. Today's advanced tags are often constructed of durable material to withstand the harsh conditions of emergency response environments. The latest generation of tags have been updated with secure fastening systems and pre-printed adhesive barcode labels for quick identification and tracking.
