Layher, Inc. is the world's largest producer and innovator of modular scaffolding systems. As the originator of integrated scaffolding systems[1], Layher has continued with product development and engineering for more than 60 years.

Since being founded, Layher has influenced the scaffolding world with innovative developments. What began with the pioneering spirit and imagination of one strong-willed visionary has since evolved into a future-oriented company with more than 1.100 employees all over the world.

Layher is headquartered in the district of Eibensbach, Germany.

History

It all started with the production and sale of agricultural implements made of wood. Many products that had a major influence on scaffolding construction followed.[2]


1945 Wilhelm Layher founds the company in Eibensbach. Manufacturing of wooden products for the agricultural sector.


1948 Production of scaffolding ladders.


1951 Opening of the first branches in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Nuremberg.


1957 "Rohr-Express" - The first Rolling Tower, the prototype for all rolling towers with non-bolted connections.


1965 The Layher SpeedyScaf made of steel or aluminium revolutionizes the façade scaffolding sector – much quicker assembly and dismantling, highly improved safety[3].


1974 The Layher Allround Scaffolding in steel and aluminium – an epoch-making invention. The ingenious and unique wedge connection technique: with up to 8 connected parts on one level automatic right angles and flexible angle selection[4].


1975 Start of automation: The first welding robots.


1978 - 1985 Innovations include Stairway Towers – safe and convenient; The Cassette Roof offers optimum protection against weather and environmental influence; the seating and staging system is ready for its "grand entrance" with a new and fast connection technique.


1998 - 1999 Layher Protect-System – a world first. The new cladding meets highest requirements regarding protection and aesthetics. The Keder Roof and Hall sets a new standard for lightweight weather protection.


2008 Expansion of the steel deck production.


2009 Built of a second, up-to-date hot-dip galvanizing facility.


Currently - Concentration of the production on two sites:


  • Steel production at the main plant in Eibensbach, production of aluminium and wooden components at “Plant II” in neighbouring Güglingen.


  • Global service and delivery network – international sales organisation with more than 30 subsidiaries.
