Larry Chiang
edithi, this is Larry Chiang
I write about credit, entrepreneurship, money and credit. Yes, I said credit twice because I really like credit.
I am notorious for starting a company that sells credit cards to college students, UCMS- It stands for United College Marketing Services. To solve some of the problems in my industry, I started Duck9: Deep Underground Credit Knowledge. It also means to duck 9's. 9s are charge-offs. Charge-offs are bank loans written off as dead that very much hurt your credit score. Yes, I cracked the Fair Isaac credit algorithm and actively refute their claim that the average FICO is 723. It is 535.
In Business Week, I poke fun at the ludicrous assertion of the average FICO of 723 where VCs in my neighborhood only have a FICO of 723. Google "10 VCs and their FICO"
