Just a quick hello

edit

Hi folks -- after more than two years as a registered Wikipedian, I thought I should create a user page, just so people know I actually exist.

I started editing Wikipedia pages because I'm micro-detail-oriented and a compulsive grammarian. I'm also rabid about documentation and accuracy. I'm far from a techie, though, so my coding style is seat-of-the-pants: I find a page that includes the features I want to include in the article I'm editing, click on the "edit this page" link in the page that has the feature, find the code that creates the feature, and copy that code to the page I'm editing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I keep experimenting till I get it generally correct.

Generally, I do my editing while I'm at work. What usually happens: I need some information, come to Wikipedia, read the relevant article, get bothered by an error (or two or three), log on to edit the article, and end up getting distracted by reading the help pages or doing research to correct the substantive information. Then my boss will come in and I'll have to abandon what I'm doing and go back to work on short notice. Like now.
