Palms L.A. Kitchen and Bar is a chain of restaurants in Beijing, primarily serving Korean-Mexican fusion as well as other dishes and cocktails identifiable with Los Angeles. Founded by two expatriate residents from Los Angeles in 2014, the original restaurant can be found in a hutong within short walking distance of the Drum and Bell Towers. After 14 months, the restaurant expanded to a second larger location near Liangmaqiao and the U.S. Embassy[1]. Both locations feature full-service bars.

The restaurant is strongly aligned with Los Angeles, with the city's iconic slender palm trees inspiring its name and logo. The design elements of both restaurants drew from bars in the Silverlake and Echo Park neighborhoods north of Downtown Los Angeles.

Cuisine

edit

Palms claims to be a "Los Angeles" restaurant and brings a variety of dishes from Los Angeles to China. Kimchi, Korean chili flake, avocado, kale and Sriracha feature prominently. Other dishes were inspired by the owners' different backgrounds, including Argentine empanadas and a yerba mate infused cocktail, El Inmigrante.
