B&H Dairy or B&H Kosher Vegetarian Place is a famous Jewish kosher dairy or milchig restaurant located in the East Village of New York City. It was opened in 1938 by Abie Bergson and Sol Hausman and became the oldest operating dairy restaurant in New York once Ratner's closed back in 2004. As per the style, they are Kosher but they serve no meat serving primarily dairy and fish. Along with soups such as matzoh ball soup, mushroom barley, split pea, and borscht, they serve sandwiches on their homemade challah such as their Whitefish melt or tuna melt[1]. They also serve Eastern European food such as pierogis, blintzes and stuffed cabbage. The current owners are Alexandra Abdelwahed, a Polish Catholic, and Fawzy, her Egyptian husband who bought the restaurant back in 2003[2] The B+H in the name means Better Health.
