Life and career edit

Alexandrina Hristov was Born on 5 May 1978 in Chișinău Republic of Moldova in a family of artists. Her father, Victor Hristov, was a painter, while her mother was passionate by acting and singing. She also started playing the piano and composing her own songs at 8 years.
She graduated from the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chișinău and has beautyfully combined music, painting and poetry in her work, since then. In 2005 she played a main part in Paul Cuzuioc's movie "Trois femmes de Moldavie", whose soundtrack also included some of Alexandrina's songs. After finishing the movie she moved with her family in Romania and she started to appear in a series of concerts in Cafe Deko in Bucharest.
In 2009, Alexandrina released her first album, "Omul de lut"("The Clay Man") which included songs such as "Printre flori"("Among flowers"), "Roule le taxi", "Maria (de leagăn)"("Maria (lullaby)"). She gained most of the fans through the Internet and peer-to-peer networks, since she refuses commercial promotion of her work[1].

Musical style and influences edit

Alexandrina sings in Romanian, French and Russian. Altough her style would be difficult to situate into a single musig genre, it is influienced by acoustic music, rock music, jazz music and soul music with innovative elements in her songs and lyrics. Even if sometimes accopanied by other instrumental performers during her concerts, the most noteble are her beautiful simultaneously voice and piano live performances. Among the artists who influienced Alexandrina's style there are PJ Harvey, Bjork, Morcheeba, and above all, Tori Amos with whom, she believes, has in common the joy of playing the piano and the sensitiveness of lyrics, which may seem senseless at some point.

Albums edit

The first album "Om de lut"("The Clay Man") was released on 9 April 2009 and was a colection of old and new songs. Alexandrina said about it that : " "The Clay Man" is my child, a beautiful child, healthy, gentle[...].His heart beats on jazz, soul, funk and electropop rithms. The Clay Man will sing about wonder, flight, quest, ships and seas, planes, green eyes, nostalgia and insomnia, flowers and nerves, Zorro and Price Charming...love and cosmos, women, rain, wind, about the King and the Queen."[2] Currently, Alexandrina is working at a second album. Some of her song have been remixed by great people of Romanian electronic music, like Dan Handrabur, Matze("Printre Flori") or Silent Strike("Printre Flori", "Noi Doi").
