Joachim "Jo" Stöhr (b-) is an x-ray physicist and Professor at Stanford University. His studies of magentic materials have led to discoveries regarding the speed at which magnetized bits can change directions, and the origin of liquid crystal alignment on rubbed polymer films (such as those used in LCD flat panel displays).
