Currently resident in Kyiv, Ukraine and have spent the last 14+ years working on economic development projects in Central & Eastern European Countries (CEECs).

Czech Republic 1994/95 – lived & worked in Plzen and Prague. It was a shitty job, but someone had to do it.......

Georgia 1996 – lived & worked in Kutaisi in western Georgia (passing through Tbilisi on the way in/out – oh the delights of the old Soviet-era terminal building, and the Tupolev 34a that at the time was the only plane flying into Georgia from Europe). And something of a cultural & experiential contrast to the previous job in the Czech Republic………..

North-West Russia 1997-99 – lived & worked in St Petersberg, Gatchina, Vyborg, Tikhvin. Shorter working visits to Tosno, Lodeynoye Pole and Luga (I won’t hurry back there any time soon)

Ukraine 1999-2007 – lived & worked in: Kyiv, Kirovograd, Mykolayiv, Ivano Frankivsk, Lutsk. Shorter working visits to: Bila Tserkva, Lviv, Ternopol, Vinnitsa, Poltava, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Kremenchuk, Krivoy Rog, Cherkassy, Uzhgorod, Odessa, Sevastopol, Simferopol, Yalta, Sumy, Lugansk.

Macedonia 2002 – lived and worked in Ohrid & Tetovo, with shorter working visit to Gostivar

Moldova 2002 & 2004 – lived & worked in Ungheni, with short stays in Chisinau on the way in and out.

Bosnia Herzegovina 2002 – lived and worked for a short time in Sarajevo

Have driven my little Mini from the UK to Kyiv (and back) twice now, and tootle around Ukraine in my right-hand drive car attracting a great deal of attention (unfortunately from the militia as well as the general population)
