Chief Anna Christiaans

Chief Anna Christiaans was the chief of the Bondelswartz Nama group, she was born on 06 February 1939 at Klein Karas in the Karasburg district, she started her school career in Warmbad and went up to the then standard six from where she went back to her home in Guixabis.

Rise to the Throne

She was inagurated on the 20th of May 1977 as the Chief of the Bondelswartz tribe. She was a fighter against the colonial regime and specifically fought and resist the Odendaal Plan. Late Anna Katriena Christiaans was a freedom fighter that went through a number of challenges during her time as Chief. One thing that the fought for fiercely was that employment for our youth must be a priority, her dream became reality and her plea adhere to as young people are now been taking up in Government positions, especially by the Namibian Police.

Death

She kept this positition up for the last 30 years, she passed on on 07 September 2011 in the Windhoek State Hospital and was laid to rest in Warmbad on the 24th of September 2011.

Personality

She was a shy yet strong personality, had patience, was humble but assertive and could stand her ground. She was a true leader in every sense of the word, she was honored with the medal for hereoin on the 26th of August 2010 at Luderitz. She was leader of the strong, unique Nama tribe.
