A Bit of Kathryn Rebecca

Short Bio

edit
  • I am currently working on my masters thesis in psychology at Concordia University Chicago. My research question is "Does later marital sexual satisfaction differ between individuals who were or were not virgins when they married?"
  • I have been accepted to Northern Illinois University's Social/IO doctoral program, and am excited to start that in the fall.
  • Things that are very important to me: my cat, Irina; my car, Iphigenia; my blackberry; my iPod; and my family.

Research Interests

edit
  • My primary area of interest in psychology is human sexual behavior. I've been studying virginity and attitudes toward premarital sexual behavior for a year now, but my real passion is non-normative sexual behavior, e.g. pedophilia and sadomasochism. I am interested in the communities of individuals who practice these behavior, the societal construction of these behaviors, and the development of these behaviors within individuals.
  • I also have an interest in traffic psychology. I am curious about what causes drivers to bottleneck, especially when there are no traffic hazards. I am also curious about what effect traffic warning signs (i.e. "slow traffic ahead") have on the flow of traffic; for example, do such signs cause traffic to move more slowing than it would without them?
