Tehri Lake is a man-made lake in New Tehri, Uttarakhand, India.
It's the biggest lake in Uttarakhand and one of the many in List of lakes of India. Tehri Lake measures 260 meters deep and flows gently from an elevation of 1700 meters.

editTehri Lake is a man-made lake project that was brought to fruition in 2006, after years of political opposition and environmental protests hindering the approval and completion. With USSR's technical and financial assistance, the completion of Tehri Lake was possible. [1]
Under the Tehri Lake, the old town of Tehri is completely submerged. [2]

editThe major highway that links New Tehri is National Highway 34. Its very well connected to major Uttarakhand cities Dehradun, Rishikesh. It is 99 Kms from Dehradun and 75 Kms from Rishikesh.
By Train
editNearest railway station is Rishikesh Railway Station which is 71 Kms from New Tehri. Rishikesh is well connected to major cities of India.
By Air
