HOME SCIENCE A knowledge of home science is quite helpful to the students as it enables them to apply their ability and intelligence for solving various problems of their own lives as also the lives of other family members, community , nation and the world. They become ideal citizens. They learn art of home management .they become ideal citizens. They learn functions of parenthood ,responsibilities of family membership and proper management of their resources ,.in this way they devlop a sound philosophy of home living. Home is the basis unit of life in a community and is a resource of spiritual energy .it acquaints the members of a family to known about individual and group morality . It also helps in the preservation ,promotion and transmission of culture from one generation to the next. Ad an iconic unit it determines the productions, distributions , and consumptions of wealth in society . In this way children can learn various patterns of living.
As a subject of study, Home Science is taught in secondary schools, colleges and universities, vocational schools, and in adult education centers; students include women and men. It prepares students for homemaking or professional careers, or to assist in preparing to fulfill real-life responsibilities at home. As an academic profession, it includes educators in the field and human services professionals.
The field represents many disciplines including consumer science, nutrition, food preparation, parenting, early childhood education, family economics, human development, interior design, textiles, apparel design, as well as other related subjects. Home Science education focuses on individuals and families living in society throughout their lifespan, thus dealing not only with families but also with their interrelationships with the communities. Other topics such as sexual education, and fire prevention may also be covered.

Family & Consumer Sciences was previously known in the US as Home Economics (often abbreviated "home ec" or HE"). In 1994, various organizations including the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences adopted the new term "family and consumer science" to reflect the fact that the field covers aspects outside of home life and wellness.[1]

Food refers to anything solid or liquid which on being swallowed is digested and assimilated in the body and keeps it well. Nutrition is the science of foods. It can be defined as food at work in the body. In it we study various processes where by the organism ingests, digests, absorbs, transports, and utilizes nutrients and disposes off their end products. Cookery is some thing more than a science . It is an art .it deals with the preparation of various types of foods. It requires a good deal of practise so as to achieve a high quality of product with proper use of time ,money and material.

In it we deal with the administrative aspect of family living. By its study the pupil develops an appreciation of management in the economical use of money ,time and energy . Household management deals with all aspects of human life :- time , energy , skills,money , etc.

The knowledge of child development and mother craft is quite useful to would be mothers. By the study of this particular branch of home science the pupil learns about :-
