He has traveled around the US speaking to families and groups on the Psycosocial aspects of living with facial disorders. Kane lives in Chetek, Wisconsin with his wife and daughter.

It was at his birth Kanes parents discoved him to have a complete Bi- Lateral Cleft Palate and minor issues. Overcoming some serious odds, he then was rushed into emergency surgery just months later for a kidney reflux, which was performed by author, surgeon, and currently professor of the Urology Department NYU, Dr. Pablo Morales. Kane in surgery stopped breathing for several seconds and as a young child did not have too much hope for survival.

Now a leading advocate for Cleft Palate families, rumor has it he is writing a book on his life and how life is with a facial birth defect.
