Symptomology edit

Radiation induced thyroiditis is often linked to hypothyroidism resulting from treatment of Grave's Disease[6]

Most cases of Thyroiditis are asymptomatic, however rare symptoms have been reported including swollen and inflamed thyroid glands, neck pain, and high fevers.[1]

Causes edit

Treatment of disease's like Grave's Disease, which require the thyroid to be broken down over time using this method, have been linked to thyroiditis.[1]

Treatments edit

Treatment of radiation induced thyroiditis is relatively easy though it ranges from case to case depending on the symptoms presented. Prescription of oral glucocorticoids or over the counter fever reducers can be potential treatments for symptoms that arise but ultimately proper management of resulting hypothyroidism is the most important factor in dealing with the underlying cause.[1]
