Laureate Martha Namundjembo-Tilahun

Mrs Namundjembo-Tilahun was born in Odipo village in the northern part of Namibia and grew up in Olunghulo,she attended school at Engela high school.Growin up mrs Namundjembo had always been gitistic of nature and would always make some artifacts with which she decorated her mother's house.Her favourite pieces were the pot plant hangers that she made with empty potato bags.She attended university at St Pauls College in Lawrenceville;Virginia in the United States of America. While at university mrs Namundjembo would take some African pieces of art with her for selling;she would also swap her old clothes for items that she wanted to sell in the states.

After competing her degree

After completing her undergraduate degree;she started workin for IBM she completed an MBA at Santa Clara Califonia.After a few days at IBM;she exclaimed to her fiance mr Tilahun,that she would quit her job at IBM to start her own business in Califonia,mr Tilahun called out that she was crazy to quit her job just to start her own business at aplace that was full of competition.Mrs Nandjembo's fiance was a computer engineer at NASA at the time;she was put off by him.Returning home she told the bank manager Brain Scottwhere she had her saving account about her plans.Brain adviced her to first talk to her father about her plans to open a cuno shop abroad. As she was so determined she got permission from her father to close the saving account.

starting what she most wanted

She collected some artifacts from Rundu and other areas of Namibia and left for San Jose Califonia.Her collections arrived before her;one morning she woke up and went out she returned that evening and told her fiance mr Tilahun that she leased a shop in the most up market shopping mall in San Jose.He again exclaimed how could she do that? How would she mantain the payments? Martha was nto bothered at all as she was determined to run her own business.

How she become successful

She later opened her own shop and named it Viola Interior Straging and Design and managed it herself and a local Califonia In 2004 Mrs Namundjembo-Tilahun won the woman in business award in San Jose Califonia.That is a major achievement for an African woman to be recogniced by the Americans.She lives in Windhoek Namibia but she would visite her business tree times a year. What started out as a cuno shop is now an award winnning business.The shop is an immuculate furniture outlet providing wooden furnitures [made from wooding Africa]with kudu,ostrich and zebra leather furnishing.

Martha is now a chairperson of the group of companies now established,mother of three children and a wife of the dynamic Mr Tilahun ,executive managing director of united African group of companies.

Martha always had a believe that enterprenuership is part of her lifestyle while growing up, but she was the one who developed the artistic intellect into an impire with her husband who realised she was making lots of money and was her own boss.He left NASA and joined Martha to start Viola Interior Straging and Design in Namibia,Martha is well known as a local business woman and co-owner of the currently develop Hilton hotel,which is the first star hotel in Namibia,she became the second NCCI president.
