Inter-American Coffee Agreement
The Inter-American Coffee Agreement was a trade treaty signed between November 28, 1940 and May 14, 1941 by the United States and 14 coffee-producing countries in the Western Hemisphere. The Agreement was a response to the closing of European coffee markets because of naval war in the Atlantic Ocean. It guaranteed quotas by bag to each producing signatory for sale to the United States.
