Audri Mukhopadhyay ( 31/1/1974 - ) is a Canadian diplomat and economist[1]. He is the Consul General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City, Socialist Republic of Vietnam.


He has been in the service of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade since 2005. Prior to this he held various positions including serving from 2002-03 as Canada's representative to the governmental advisory committee of ICANN.


He has been a strong advocate for furthering educational links between Canada and Vietnam which led him to be named in Progress Magazine's 2010 list of " People we love"[2]. In addition he has been filming a television series for Ho Chi Minh City Television due to air in Fall 2010, which is part of an english language teaching programme aiming to promote Canadian culture in Vietnam.


He is an Indo-Canadian of Bengali origin. Born in Providence, Rhode Island ( USA), he moved to Canada in 1979 and grew up in Halifax (former city), Nova Scotia. He received his Bachelors in Economics from Dalhousie University and in 1995 was named a Rhodes Scholar from the Maritime Provinces of Canada[3]. As a Rhodes Scholar he completed two degrees, a M.Phil. in Economics (Magdalen College) and a MBA (Trinity College).
