Personal Life

Joshua grew up in Leicester before moving to Lincoln and then Rep' of Ireland. Unsworth came back to Leicester in 2006 where he began his career in English Football. Unsworth is the youngest of 5 children. He has 2 brothers and 2 sisters, none of them are into football. Joshua only has one family member who has ever been a professional footballer, David Unsworth, Joshua's uncle, who is most known for playing for Everton.

Aylestone Park

Joshua Unsworth first joined Aylestone Park which was his first club when moving from Ireland to England. He couldn't settle in at the club in his first season after starting only 9 games and coming off the bench 8 times. That season was the worst season under Jamie Keeling, the club was relegated from the Premier.

Wigston United

The following season Aylestone joint up with League 4 team Wigston United where he was sent on loan for 2 years. His first year after 2 games Joshua Unsworth was named captain. He scored 2 goals in my first 5 games. Throughout that season He was hit hard by an ankle injury which only allowed me to play 17 games, scoring 2 goals. Wigston United got to the quarter finals of the league cup losing to Mowbray Rangers 2-0. We came runners-Up in the league which made us promoted to League 3. Joshua's final year at Wigston United was another success in the league. He played in every league game in the 2010-2011 season, playing all the 22 games scoring 5 league goals. That season Joshua received the Players Player award and the Managers Player award. Our cup runs ended in the first round of both cups both to Premier League teams. Again Wigston United finished runners-Up achieving League 3 football.

Aylestone Park 2011-2012

Joshua Unsworth return to Aylesone was a tough one as manager Jamie fell ill. Weeks later Jamie was sacked as manager. Steve Peace took charge. First two league games under Steve he didn’t start or get on. His first start of the season came against one of the leagues best Ratby. Unsworth started Right-Back, ever since that game he laid down a starting place as Aylestone Park’s number 1 right-back. Aylestone who was back in the Premier wasn't classed a title winning team but that season we got to both semi-finals getting knocked out by rivals Highfields and Melton Mowbray. Aylestone finished 3rd in the table as well. That season Unsworth received the Players Player award. That season Joshua got my best goal scoring record scoring 13 goals in 25 games.

North Kilworth

In the summer on 2012, Joshua Unsworth decided to leave Aylestone Park on a pernament deal joining team mates at Aylestone Park, Tendai Daire, Liam Taylor and Anesu Matura at the club. Joshua Unsworth played all 6 friendly games. Unsworth said after pre-season "I've found it very hard to settle in here. This is a great team but I miss Aylestone" the following week Joshua Unsworth had rejoined Aylestone Park for the third time.

Aylestone Park

Unsworth failed to agree personal terms with North Kilworth which led him to rejoin Aylestone Park 94 and was named Vice-Captain.

Unsworth enjoyed his most successful season as a player winning the league and reaching the final of the County Cup with the 94's and he also enjoyed his best goal scoring season, bagging 15 goals in 23 games.

Joshua Unsworth featured in the Wednesday League also, he help guide the team to a top 4 spot. He was famously sent off against North Kilworth which he served a 4 match ban for abusive language towards the referee.

Unsworth played in the County Cup final against GNG where the 94's lost in a penalty shoot-out, Unsworth took the first penalty and missed it. He said it was the "Worst and saddest moment of my career".

He put the cup heartache behind him as he helped get the club their first Premier League title.

Aylestone Park Youth

Unsworth left Aylestone Park 94 to join rivals Aylestone Park youth where manager Brandon Lewis claimed to be his 'marque' signing.

Joshua Unsworth settled in well with the club scoring 3 pre season goals in 7 games. He took his goal scoring form from the 2012/2013 season to the 2013/2014 season. Joshua Unsworth got his first competitive club goal against Birstall United, claiming the winner in a 3-2 win, helping the Youths win their first U18 game.

Joshua Unsworth snatched 10 winning goals during the 2013/14 season. He famously broke biggest rivals Lutterworth Athletic unbeaten streak in the league with life long teammate Tendai Daire assisting Unsworth for a header. Unsworth claimed the moment to be "Best moment of the season, it was magical!"

Joshua Unsworth went on to score 33 goals in 36 games claiming the Golden Boot in the U18 Midland Premier League.

Having forced to retire from the team due to age restrictions he accepted a one-year contract to become the assistant manager of the club for the 2014/15 season.

Ellistown & Ibstock United

Joshua Unsworth was confirmed a player for Ibstock United during the end of the 2012-2013 season, he made his debut against St Andrews coming on in the right midfield role, sealing of a 2-1 win.

His first start came against Ellistown FC in the Coalville Charity Cup, this is the game where he got his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win to make it to the final. Ibstock United went on to lose against Gresily Town in the final.

Ibstock then formed with Ellistown making it Ellistown & Ibstock United. Unsworth played 5 games in the 2013-2014, again during the end of the season and again helped them reach the Coalville Charity Cup final.

On 5th July 2014 Ellistown & Ibstock United had announced that Joshua Unsworth has signed a 1-year contract keeping him until July 2015.

Coaching

Joshua Unsworth's first team in management was for Samworth. He was named joint manager with close friend Tendai Daire in for the 2011-2012 season. The partnership grew to be a strong partnership as both of them led the club to runners-up in the league and led the club to the semi-finals of the National Cup, which became the best finish in the National Cup and the League in Samworth's history

Junior Aylestone Park Managing

Having been a key player for the U18 team during the 2013/2014 season, U13 manager Matt Wormo decided to offer Joshua Unsworth a 12 month contract.

Joshua helped Matt guide the U13's to the U13 Premier League title as well as the County Cup. With the double the team also finished runners up in the League Cup and the Midland Premier Cup.

On 21st June Matt Wormo announced Joshua Unsworth had signed a new 2-year deal with the team, claiming "Unsworth is my right hand man. He's a brilliant coach and one day will make it the big time. It's a honour to have him on board!"

U18 Aylestone Park Managing

On 1st June 2014, managers Brandon Lewis and Taj Loyal had announced they've signed former player Joshua Unsworth on a 1 year contract as assistant manager of the team, 1 month as he announced his retirement from playing for the team.
