Inflation is relative to bad economy. When an economy is struggling in a country like Nigeria, the impact of inflation becomes more visible, exacerbating the challenges faced by mainly businesses but individuals and the government inclusive, the relationship can be enumerated as follows;

Firstly, inflation reduces the purchasing power of the country and the individuals. People find it difficult to buy goods and services as prices soar up and this leads to financial hardship and low savings because they tend to use up all their income on acquiring basic amenities. It also affects the nation's purchasing power on the international market as exchange rates are no longer stable.

Secondly, businesses especially large ones finds it difficult to operate in dwindling economy. As the cost of production and expenses increases, businesses have difficulty procuring the needed materials for production and when they do, they push the effects on the consumers by higher selling price of products.

Finally, inflation in a poor economy like Nigeria leads to economic decline and lower productivity, mostly internally. Inflation can further deplete a country's economic stability as it closely relates to a country's economic state.
