About Me

edit

Thanks for visiting my Wikipedia user page!

I am a new member of Wikipedia. I am currently working on an assignment for my Introduction to English Composition class. I attend a community college in the Pacific Northwest in a college in high school program. I am interested in many things, and I frequently engage in new hobbies. I love to hike and camp, play competitive Esports, and I even took yoyoing seriously in the past. Did you know that there are almost 1,300 nationally designated recreation trails in the U.S[1]. This number does not include locally, and state-recognized trails either, there is a lot to explore.

My Wikipedia Interests

edit

Because I am new to Wikipedia, I don't feel I have a lot to say about my interest in it. At the moment I have had fun clicking on the "Random Article" button. In the future, I can see myself fixing small grammatical errors in the articles that I read. I particularly enjoy reading articles about obscure animals I have never heard about.

Article Evaluation

edit

Ever since attending Everett Community College last quarter, I have been interested in learning about the history of the campus. When I saw the Everett CC Wikipedia page, evaluating the article was a good opportunity. I know a lot about the location and it has been a long time since it was last evaluated and edited. I visited the Everett Community College article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: The article is missing some citations, it is not up to date, and there is some information missing.

Lack of Citations

edit

While evaluating the article I noticed it was missing some simple to add citations about the completion of buildings. Specifically, the 2009, 2014, and 2017 building additions are missing citations. There is also a claim in the "History" section of the article that lacks citation, however, I have found significant evidence online. The article would benefit from several citation changes and edits.

Outdated Sections

edit

When looking at the side panel of the Wikipedia page I noticed some outdated statistics, including the amount of students on campus (Which was most recently updated in 2017) and the age range of the students. This is a fairly minor change, however, the article is small and full of information that should be updated.

Important missing information

edit

When reviewing the Wikipedia page I noticed that multiple buildings are missing from the "Campus" section. These buildings will be easy to cite and have been major additions to the campus since the article was last updated.

Additionally, during the Covid-19 pandemic the campus, website, and school, underwent some major changes. I believe that the addition of a "Covid-19 Pandemic" section would be great. It would provide a lot of important information that is still relevant, and important recent history.

Conclusion

edit

Overall I think that the Everett Community College Wikipedia article is a short but sweet burst of valuable information. The information that is on the page is either very valuable and relevant information, or interesting history. More information, as well as additional proper citation would definitely make a meaningful impact on the article. The article is dense and almost hits the mark for the perfect amount of information, it is a good source of information.
