-Fire Triangle-

Heat, fuel and oxygen represent the three sides of the fire triangle. A heat source is accountable for the ignition of a flame, and is required to allow for spread by preheating and drying out nearby fuel. The fuel is any combustible material, that takes into account moisture content, size, shape, quantity and the arrangement in which the fire will spread over the landscape. Oxygen supports the chemical process that occur during fire. When fuels burn and reacts with oxygen from the surrounding air the releasing of heat and generating combustion in the form of gas, smoke, and embers.

-Suppressing Wildfire-

To suppress a fire, one of the three sides of the single flame fire triangle needs to be removed, the heat, fuel, and/or oxygen supplying the combustion.

Fuel and heat alone are not enough to start the combustion process, without sufficient oxygen there is not fire. The atmosphere contains 21% oxygen, and most fire requires around 16% to burn. The warmer the environment the less oxygen is required. Changes in wind speed and direction can rapidly change the rate and spread of fire

-Wild land Fire-

Pertains to all non-structure fires in regions of limited or no development. The fire can be naturally occurring, intentionally set, or accidental.

-Multi scale Fire Triangles-

Fire concepts can change across spatial and temporal scales. As time and space increases the triangle sides begin to shift from a flame to wildfire and then lastly to fire regime.

In Fire triangle, I would like to add to the description of what is a fire triangle and add the fire diamond and use the resource of our class text book. I would like to elaborate on the idea that the triangle can change as space, size, and time of fire progresses. As the size of a flame moves from wildfire and oxygen growing with more production of weather and climate. [1]

Article Evaluation edit

In Fire Ecology, underneath fire suppression and fish impacts, there is little or no data with the impact of fish wildlife, especially with native species. The impact of fire can lead to speciation events. Fires can change the landscape and create new barriers which lead to new species. Fragmented areas can occur and which affects the quality of nutrients and resources. This area only includes area around Idaho, I would like to research more of the areas around the Pacific northwest, wildfires are more frequent and the likelihood of new species in not researched deeply.
