Charles Rafferty (Poet)
Charles Rafferty (born New Haven CT, 1965) is an American poet and Director of the MFA program at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT. He won the Arkansas Poetry award for his first book, The Man on the Tower (University of Arkansas Press, 1995) and has written three other collections of poetry: Where the Glories of April Lead (Mitki/Mitki Press, 2001), During the Beauty Shortage (M2 Press, 2005), and A Less Fabulous Infinity (Louisiana University Press, 2006). He has placed poems and essays in numerous journals, among them The New Yorker, TriQuarterly, The Southern Review, The Drunken Boat, DoubleTake, Massachusetts Review, Oprah Magazine, Connecticut Review, Connecticut River Review, Caduceus, Poetry East, Hellas, The Laurel Review, West Branch, The Formalist, Phoebe, The George Mason Review, Quarterly West, and Louisiana Literature. His work has appeared in several anthologies namely: Anthology of Magazine Verse & Yearbook of American Poetry (Monitor Book Company, 1997), American Poetry: The Next Generation (Carnegie Mellon University Press, 2000), Sonnets: 150 Contemporary Sonnets (University of Evansville Press, 2005) and Rhyming Poems: A Contemporary Anthology (University of Evansville Press, 2007). He is also the author of four chapbooks: The Wave That Will Beach Us Both (Still Waters Poetry Press, 1994), The Bog Shack (Picadilly Press, 1996), A Darkness With Brighter Stars (Picadilly Press, 2000) and A Trayful of Brimming Martinis (Picadilly Press, 2003).
