About James
editMy name is James Dooms. I'm willing to bet I'm the oldest one in this class. I'm 46 years old, and I've worked in the TV production industry since 1984. I found a Wiki page on the station in Kansas City where I learned Television. Back then, the call letters were KYFC [[1]]. After a short time, I moved back home to Evansville, where I've spent most of my career. I have worked at all of the TV stations in Evansville at some point. After many years as a newscast director, I moved into advertising. I produced TV commercials with an advertising agency and for Insight Media for 6 years, and was laid off in 2009. I had started working on my Associates Degree at Ivy Tech in the fall of 2008. I had decided that after over 20 years in the TV business without a degree, I needed to get one. The following February I was unemployed, so... Fun times! After graudating from Ivy Tech, I decided to continue my education with a Bachelor's degree from USI, and this is my 2nd year. In July, I was hired as the Director of Audio Visual Instructional Services at Saint Meinrad School of Theology, so I am only taking online classes at USI for now. I have also started my own production company with my son. The company can be checked out here: http://www.doomsmedia.com if you want to see some of my work.
